Eye Examinations
Your vision is unique. Our comprehensive eye examinations begin with a detailed history of how you use your vision for work and for play. The optometrist will evaluate your eye muscle coordination and pupil function; measure your spectacle prescription; examine the tearfilm, cornea, iris, crystalline lens, and conjunctiva with the biomicroscope; measure the pressure of your eye; dilate your pupils to examine the optic nerve, maculae, peripheral retina; and administer a peripheral vision test. High resolution retinal photography is available in office. Spectacle prescriptions are customized for your specific visual requirements: computer work, reading, driving, sun protection, and sports or safety goggles. Infants and children are tested based on their age and expected level of visual development.
Diagnostic Technology
In our office, we make use of the latest technological advances in ophthalmic instrumentation to test evaluate our patients for eye disorders such as glaucoma, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration. Some of the specialized technology we use to detect and diagnose eye disorders include the Matrix FDT visual field tester, the Zeiss Digital Visucam, used for retinal photography, the Reichert tonopen, and the ultrasonic pachymeter, which measures corneal thickness.
Contact Lens Care
The contact lens examinations and fitting services specifically evaluate your tear film, epithelial cells, cornea, and conjunctival layers to determine how these ocular tissues interact with your contact lenses. Our goal is to help you maintain healthy, comfortable, and clear vision. We offer a wide variety of contact lens options, including gas permeable, bitoric gas permeable, bifocal contact lenses, astigmatism correcting contacts, daily disposable lenses and the higher oxygen permeable silicone hydrogel soft lenses. Compare our contact lens prices to online vendors (free shipping and rebates where applicable).
Red Eye and Urgent Care
Moderne Eye offers after-hour services for urgent eye care. Additionally, our staff is trained to receive information from patients about urgent care issues, and to direct patients to receive proper and timely eye care.
High Definition and Digital Lens Technology
Recent advances in eyeglass lens manufacturing have made possible new high-definition eyeglass lenses that correct visual aberrations, potentially giving you sharper vision than what is possible with conventional eyeglasses. These lenses are designed to provide sharper vision in all lighting conditions and reduce glare for nighttime driving and other night vision tasks. Many brands of high-definition eyeglass lenses currently are available, including high-definition versions of high-index lenses and progressive lenses. Because creating high-definition lenses requires additional information beyond what is recorded on your eyeglass prescription, our opticians will take additional measurements when you choose your eyeglass frames. A proprietary fitting tool for a specific brand of free-form, high-definition lenses will be used. Moderne Eye Optometry utilizes the Essilor Visioffice which provides precise computerized measurements of pupillary distance and several other measurements related to the size and fit of the chosen frame that are required to optimize the performance of digital progressive and high-definition lenses.
